Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the SHINES study matter?
A growing proportion of people being diagnosed with lung cancer have never smoked cigarettes. In some specific groups, up to 80% of new diagnoses of lung cancer are made in people with no smoking history. The SHINES study is investigating what risk factors besides smoking may lead to lung cancer. We want to improve lung cancer screening for everyone.
